Modern technique to synthesize Heterocyclic compound, Patent Published

GLA University, Mathura is reaching new hights in research and innovation. A group of researchers from Department of Chemistry has discovered a new technique to synthesize Heterocyclic compounds which is the fundamental unit of molecular structure of many medicines such as pyrazole, pyrimidine, pyrimidone, etc. The synthesis of these compounds is a very time taking process and they are likely to be formed with impurities. This new technology will eliminate this issue.

Prof. Deepak Kumar Das                   Prof. Panchanan Pramanic

The patent for this new technique has been published by Professors of Chemistry department. Prof. Panchanan Pramanic, Dr Deepak Kumar Das, Dr Prabal Pratap Singh, Dr Yogendra Kumar and Dr Shobha Bansal developed the process of synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds by using magnetic nano catalyst. This process takes relatively very less time and because of magnetic nature of nano catalyst, it can be separated easily from reaction mixer with the help of external magnets and thus, the magnetic nano catalyst can be reused. Professors said that the catalyst is a substance that does not take part in the chemical reaction but increase or decrease the speed of chemical reaction.

Prof. Prabal Pratap Singh gave information about the heterocyclic compounds. Prof. Anirudh Pradhan, Dean Research, Prof. D. K. Das, Head of Chemistry department , Prof. Kamal Sharma, Associate Dean Research said that this technique will open a door for innovation in field of medicine and Pharmacy as well as ensuring environmental safety. This technique can the reduce cost the expensive drugs used in the treatment of diseases like Cancer.
