Prof. Anirudh Pradhan appointed as a director of new research centre at GLA University, Mathura

Prof. Anirudh Pradhan joined GLA University, Mathura in the year 2014 and provided his services to the university as Professor of Mathematics and as Dean Research. In his leadership, GLA University established many benchmarks in research. He laid the foundation of research in Cosmology and Astrophysics at GLA University, Mathura. On Jan 13th 2022, he attained the superannuation and was about to take leave from his services. But who wants to lose his most precious gem?

GLA University is extremely pleased to announce that Prof. Anirudh Pradhan has been appointed as Distinguished Professor and Director of the Centre for Cosmology, Astrophysics, and Space Science (CCASS) which is new research centre at GLA University, Mathura and will be incubated soon.

This new centre is a brainchild of a great person, no other than Prof. Anirudh Pradhan.

Dr Anirudh Pradhan was educated at University of Gorakhpur where from he obtained the M. Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in the subject of Mathematics in the year 1978. He has 45 years of experience in teaching and 48 years in research.

The main field of specialization of Dr. Pradhan is Classical Relativity, Cosmology and Astrophysics. He has published more than 300 (SCI/SCOPUS) research papers in internationally reputed scientific journals with high impact factors. With more than 6000 citations, his h-index is 44 and i10-index is 145. In addition to the above credentials, he has also published two patents. Twenty-four students have obtained their Ph. D. degrees under his guidance and they all are well placed in different institutes of higher learning. He has authored five textbooks for undergraduate students in Mathematics.

Recently, Stanford University recognized Prof. Pradhan in the list of top 2% world scientists based on the survey by Mendeley scientific organization in the field of Nuclear & Particle Physics in the period 2019-2020 and 2020-2021.


He has been awarded Dr. Abdul Kalam Gold Medal on the occasion of 38th National Unity Conference on Individual Achievements and National Development on 15th October, 2016 at Bangalore by Global Economic Progress and Research Association.

He has also been awarded Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi Gold Medal Award for his individual achievements and national development on 20th August, 2017.

In recognition to his scholarship and research potentialities, the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia has granted the Project No. 02-10-10-969 FR on the topic “To Study on Cosmological Constant Problem” with which Prof. H. Zainuddin (Malaysia) and Prof. H. Amirhashchi (Iran) are associated. He has also completed four major projects funded by UGC and DST.

Dr. Pradhan has worked as a Visiting Professor in the University of Zululand, South Africa (1995, 2016, 2017) and Yasouj University, Iran (2006). He also worked as a Visiting Scientist to Institute for Mathematical Research (INSPEM), University of Putra, Malaysia (2010) and (2011) and JINR Laboratory of Information Technologies, Dubna, Moscow Region, Russia (2010) and (2013). In 2018, he visited the University of Zululand, South Africa as a Visiting Fellow.

Apart from the above assignments, Dr. Pradhan has also visited different institutes/universities in India and abroad to address and take part in academic meetings, seminars and conferences.


Dr. Pradhan is also a Visiting Associate of two nationally reputed autonomous institutes of higher research learning (i) Inter-University Centre for Astronomy & Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune (2002-2022) and (ii) Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc.), Chennai (2009-2012). He is associated with various Indian institutes like Harish-Chandra Research Institutes (HRI), Allahabad, CTP, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He is also an external member of supervisory committee, school of graduate studies, UPM.

Dr. Pradhan is the heart of GLA University, Mathura and a great inspiration for students and young researchers. We are blessed and grateful to have Prof. Anirudh Pradhan with us. We wish him a good health and success in his life.
