GLA University bags Another Patent: IPO Grants Patent to GLA University

A patent has been granted to GLA University by the Indian Patent Office, Government of India for the invention “Laminated Multipurpose Pipe”. An interdisciplinary team of researchers Mr. Kamal Kishore (Department of Civil Engineering), Mr. Ashish Gaur (Department of Biotechnology) filed the patent, under the guidance of Prof. Kamal Sharma, Dean (Research & Development). Aforesaid patent has been granted on 14 July 2022 for a period of 20 years from the date of its publication.

It is an advanced category of available pipes in the market. The invention uses two epoxy layers and an antimicrobial layer of nano-composite particles. The purpose of this invention is to reduce growth of micro-organisms such as algae and to provide better resistance to chemicals. The amalgamation resulted in a high tensile strength which works as an extra protectant for the pipelines. Besides this, the application of the epoxy layers inside the faces will offer higher strength and improved durability to the pipes. As a consequence, the surfaces of the pipe experience the higher dimensional stability and a stable proactive resistance against the chemical attacks.

On grant of this patent, Prof. Sudhir Kumar Goyal, HoD (Department of Civil Engineering) and Prof. Shoorvir Singh, HoD (Department of Biotechnology) congratulated Mr. Kamal Kishore and Mr. Ashish Gaur and said that these researchers are very versatile in their research. They have been indulge in variety of the research projects and ideas.

Prof. Kamal Sharma
Dean R&D, Prof. Kamal Sharma praises team for his researcher's attitude. He said that the team has shown a perfect example of collaborative research by working with three departments of GLA University which are Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Biotechnology and Department of Mechanical Engineering.
He wished them all the success in their future life. GLA University, Mathura strives for such researchers and encourage its students and faculties for research and innovations and we are ready to support our researcher by all means.
